Book Launch Party held at the Taschen Bookstore in Beverly Hills
DC Comics asked CapedWonder™.com to contribute photos to the gigantic book, 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking, by Paul Levitz in 2010. As most of you know already, the final product is nothing less than stellar. It is by far the largest book I’ve ever read!
The book’s publisher, Taschen, were great people to work with. They held launch parties across the country. My wife and I attended the Beverly Hills party on December 15, 2010. I invited Baby Superman from Superman-The Movie and my friend, Aaron Smolinski, and his wife. Lots of DC Comics people attended, as well as a surprise guest, the one-and-only Stan Lee. Stan made a very quick appearance to congratulate Paul Levitz (I overheard Stan whisper in Paul’s ear, “I hope you sell a zillion copies!”) and pose for a few photos with Batman in front of his batmobile parked on the street in front of the store. Many copies of the book were autographed that night. It was a fun and unique experience! Here’s a YouTube video from the party (I’m in the red NASCAR Superman jacket with my camera taking photos of Batman).
As always, I had my trusty Nikon D3 with me and managed to capture some great photos – so did Amy Kaplan Photography — all featured below. Thanks Amy!
