Siegel and Shuster Family Reunion.

A Kodachrome 64 slide film photo of the Jerry Siegel house fence S shield. Photo by Jim Bowers.

On July 9-12, 2009, in Cleveland, Ohio, the Screaming Tiki Super-Con and the Siegel and Shuster Society honored the family members of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in an historial series of unforgettable events. The families had their very first reunion party, unveiled Jerry Siegel's restored childhood home at a ribbon cutting ceremony, and celebrated with fans with a giant, delicious Superman cake. There was also a question-and-answer session with the family (which I unable to attend).

On July 9, 2009, I had the rare opportunity to be the first person to photograph the amazing Action Comics #1 panels that were installed the day before at the location where Joe Shuster's home once stood in Cleveland. Click here, here, here and here to see the panels. See more panels photos in the gallery below.

Jamie Reigle (pictured in a Superman T-shirt in many of the gallery photos below), an avid Superman collector and dealer, and member of the Siegel and Shuster Society, revealed on July 29, 2009 (following the official events held earlier in the month) that the Shuster Lane, Lois Lane and Siegel Lane street signs were installed on the street post. See the signs here and here. The signs were unveiled during the Jerry Siegel house ribbon cutting ceremony on July 12, 2009. See all of the ceremony photos in the gallery below.

Special Thanks to Jamie Reigle for inviting me to the Screaming Tiki Super-Con and the Siegel and Shuster events; and to the Siegel and Shuster families for their kindness, and for allowing me to be at their private party to take photographs on July 10, 2009.
