Jez Coulson photographs Christopher Reeve
Jez Coulson is a photojournalist and reportage artist. Born in Birmingham, England, he attended the Kent Institute of Art and has worked all over the world winning awards for his coverage of South Africa, Rwanda, Bosnia and Gaza, and other stories undertaken for international magazines. Now living in New York and Washington DC, Jez works on his own exhibits and commercial projects, while still taking photojournalistic assignments. (This information came from here.)
In April 2010, Jez graciously sent CapedWonder™.com film scans of five Christopher Reeve photographs taken in 2003 at Chris’ New York home office. Featured in three of the photos below is a framed art print that I sent to Christopher Reeve in 2001 of the painting entitled, “Someone To Believe In”, by my friend and portrait artist Kristopher B. Meadows. This piece was Chris’ very favorite Superman item. It proudly hung behind his office desk until his passing on October 10, 2004.
Thank you very much, Jez, for these incredible, wonderful photos of a very special man. From the comments on your blog, it sounds like this experience is a highlight in your photojournalism career. As a fellow photographer who has also shot Christopher Reeve, I can certainly relate to your feelings.
Be sure to take the time to visit Jez Coulson’s offical website and blog. All of his work is really fantastic! Enjoy!
